Viruses, viruses.... Everywhere viruses!
Friday 10 November 2006

Evening, folks! As if it wasn't enough that I am plagued by cough, hoarseness, sore throat and a cold, now my computer, too, has a virus (or whatever it may be). Total failure, installed Windows new, all programs, all drivers, which are of importance to me, are gone at the moment. Including Outlook and Adobe. Checking emails is pure luxury at the moment, yesterday my computer even didn't boot - totally incomprehensible for me, as it worked the day before and switched off without any problem. This is so annoying! Means: if there won't be a blog entry or similar tomorrow, then my computer - together with me - lies in my bed with a cup of tea and red sweets for the throat and is killing time.

I have to say honestly, I can hardly switch the topic, because I am veeery angry. But: today I got hold of some tiny leetle christmas presents. Very secretly, of course. And I have been to a lantern procession [Ed.: more info about this is here -HOT]
with my nephew. Apart from that I still - I mentioned it already - lie flat. The problem maybe that I don't take any antibiotics and therefore everything takes a little longer than usual. Well,.... How is this saying? "A cold takes seven days or a week".... And I hope, my computer problem will be solved much faster!

In this sense - And I am also too annoyed for music!

Tessa. The un-lucky beggar.

Sometimes it is really hard, not to put comments into the translation... For instance: she lost Outlook and Adobe. Adobe what? There are a dozen Adobe programs! It's nearly the same as if you say "I lost the Microsoft program". Or at this sentence "Apart from that I still - I think I mentioned it already - lie flat" I wanted to shout: YESSS, YOU DID!!!
Btw, a question to the native English speakers: Do you really say "lie flat" when somebody lies in bed because of sickness? Or is there a better alternative? I think, this term will occur more often in her future blogs...

US English also uses "flat on my back" for lieing in bed sick.

Thanks for the entry Tessa and the translation Hot.

Hmm, a new destructive PIF MSN worm has been spreading around very recently, at an extremely quick rate. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the culprit.

Just curious here. Razz

Very similar to german Smile

If you want, you can comment it here dict.leo.org (English) to make the translator better.

Already there as #7. Sad

@WalkingPanda
Ah, the joys of avoiding as much M$ software as possible. (I'm thinking about trying Linux on a stand-alone P133 with a 2 Gig HHD. [got it for $5.00 cause the C: drive was fried. Re-jumpered the D: drive to master and it's as good as new. Very Happy] Any suggestions as to which flavor would be good for a clueless newbie to learn on?)

You'll get about $750 worth of frustration for your $5.
Don't do it!

...barely ok for use as a slow file server or firewall though.

@HOT You can also say "bed-ridden" if too sick to get out of bed.

Ubuntu, but it won't run on that machine. Razz You'll have better luck putting Slackware on it. Cool

it's easy to defend..... the logic of a friend!
Saturday 11 November 2006

Hallöchen! Well, what can you tell? Cold and dark outside, my cold only slowly lessens, my fingers start falling off as well as my toes. A sad mood spreads... Happens quite often to me, with not much sun.... But much shadow and darkness.

I have to say, I just haven't anything to tell today. Music today is a tip, which I had before: "Badly Drawn Boy" - "Silent Sigh".... (So the song has to be real good.... Wink )

Tessa. Dark autumn.
